Le tableau de Wimbledon, 3e Grand-Chelem de l'année est sorti ce vendredi et Maria est la tête de série n°3 de ce tournoi. Au premier tour elle jouera la française Stephanie Foretz pour une 1ere. Au deuxième tour, elle jouera une compatriote puisque les russes Kudryavtseva, Alla et Makarova, Ekaterina s'affrontent. Maria mène 1/0 contre la 1ere et elle n'a jamais encore joué la 2e.

Au troisième tour Maria pourrait rencontrer la tête de série n°26, l'autrichienne Sybille Bammer contre qui elle n'a jamais joué. Elle pourrait ensuite jouer la Biélorusse Victoria Azarenka tête de série n°16 (0/1).

Une victoire permettrait à Maria de retrouver soit Elena Dementieva, tête de série n°5 (8/2), soit l'américaine Lindsay Davenport, n°25 (5/1), pour une place en demi-finale.

Maria serait alors confrontée ou à Jelena Jankovic tête de série n°2 (4/1) ou à Venus Williams, numéro 7 (3/2) qui complètent ce bas du tableau . Dans l'autre partie du tableau se trouvent Ana Ivanovic n°1, Serena Williams n°6.

WIMBLEDON INTERVIEW PRE-TOURNOIS

Q: Vas tu regardé le match aujourd'hui ?
Bien sur :P

Q: Que penses tu des chances russes dans cet euro ?
Nous avons une équipe assez forte en face mais c'est vraiment trés exitant. Je ne suis pas dans un hotel en ce moment, je suis dans une maison et je regarderais certainement le match avec une bande d'amis et mon pere. J'ai une casquette de la russie depuis la fed cup, je pense que je la porterais, J'ai hate. C'est sure se sera difficile, mais qui sais, la turquie n'etait pas favorite hier et ils ont gagné

Q: Qu'as tu fais depuis Paris ?
Ouh j'ai pris quelque jours de repos, je viens juste de reprendre l'entrainement et le travail.

Q: Et ?
... C'est assez ennuyant. ( rire)

Q : Comment te sent tu ? Que peut tu nous dire sur ta condition physique ?
Bien, cette année j'ai juste changé un peu mon programme, chaque année je reste généralement en europe entre roland garros et wimbledon, cette fois je suis rentrée à la maison, tu sais , pour permettre à mon corps et à mon esprit de s'evader un peu
J'ai changé mon calendrier cette année, j'ai deja joué pas mal de match, et 'jai encore pas mal de challenge cette année. Je veux juste préparer les tournois d'une manière un peu plus sage, pour être sur que quand le grand tournois arrive je suis prete à le jouer.

Q: ES tu devenu un peu plus casanière ?
Oui un petit peu lol, c'est juste un peu étrange, chaque année je fais la même chose, et il est vrai que c'est un peu compliqué de revenir à la maison durant cette période, mais j'ai pu faire ce que je ne pouvais avant comme aller à une des finale des NBA, mais c'était bizarre, être une entouré de ses amis à cette periode de l'année c'est étrange, mais ils ont apprécié. Car normalement je en suis jamais à la maison à cette période de l'année, je ne suis jamais la pour l'été.
C'était vraiment bizarre, mais c'était géniale. D'une certaine manière c'est toujours bien de rentrer chez soi pour recharger ses batteries, c'était géniale car à peine 24 h aprés ma defaite à paris, J'étais dans mon café préféré, avec le menu me demandant ce que j'allais prendre pour diner, C'est comme si j'était dans un monde différent, c'était géniale d'avoir pu faire sa, je peux me deconnecter de la planète tennis et revenir à une vie tout à fait normale.

Q : Ton corps te fait- il ressentir le besoin de prendre les choses un peu plus facilement ? Sentais tu, d'une certaine manière que tu jouais trop au tennis ?
Je regarde juste ce que j'ai deja fais cette année, le nombre de voyage, de match que j'ai joué, je pense juste que c'était plus sage.
Je pense que c'est mieux que je m'entraine, plutot qu'allez faire un tournois.

Q: As tu appris à cuisiner maintenant ?
Je suis meilleure, tu serais surpris. Au tournois de L.A si je gagne je t'inviterai à ma table pour le dinner.

Q: Quel est ta spécialité ?
Italien, car c'est la chose la plus facile à cuisiner. Je suis une spécialiste pour faire des pates et de la sauce.

Q: Tu vas cuisiner durant la quinzaine?
Je ne l'ai encore jamais fait. Mais je n'ai pas vraiment le temps, je ne pense pas que je le ferais, ici.

Q: Quand tu était assise au café, en attendant qu'on t'apporte le menu, pensais tu à ce qui c'était passé à Paris?
Oh mon dieu,non. Absolument pas.

Q: Juste parlons de ton retour pour LA, t'es tu demander ce qui s'est passé, qu'est ce que tu as fait de différent, ce que tu saurai du faire ? enfin ce genre de chose ?
J'ai pensé , qu'est ce que tu peux dire ? Tu était à un point de remporter le match . Je ne me serais jamais poser la question si j'avais remporté le match. c'est pourquoi je me dis toujours que c'est comme sa que le tennis est interessant, un point peut faire toute la différence. Mais tu te dis que tu auras encore d'autre tournois, d'autre voyage et que c'est comme sa que sa marche.
Quelque fois tu gagne, d'autre fois tu perd. Je ne sais pas pourquoi mais cette defaite à roland garros ne m'a pas vraiment travaillé.

Q: Comment pense tu avoir changer en tant que joueuse depuis que tu as gagné ici il y a 4 ans?
J'ai beaucoup changé, je pense etre devenu une joueuse plus intelligente et expérimentée.
Tu sais, je ne me préoccupe plus de ce qui peut se passer sur le court, je me concentre sur ce que j'ai à faire et à ce que j'ai à travailler.
Je fais des choix beaucoup plus judicieux. Physiquement je suis plus forte. C'est fou comme sa fait longtemps, 'ai hate de revivre ce moment.

Q: Tu parle de l'amérique comme chez toi, mais tu supporte l'équipe de russie, tu te considère toujours russe ? ou prefere tu combiner les 2 ?
J'ai bougé aux états unis, pour mon tennis, pour essayer d'en faire mon métier, dans ce temps la ce n'était pas facile, les conditions n'était pas favorable pour continuer en russie. . Tu sais c'etait difficile de jouer 6 jour sur 7 durant 4 heure au tennis dans ces temps la . C'etait même impossible. Le temps ne le permettait pas. C'était pratiquement impossible de s'entrainer.
Mais j'ai du faire ce choix, partir dans un pays étranger, t'y installer pour un moment, tu dois donc t'habituer aux coutume, à la culture, et aux chose qu'il y a. Tu t'y fais des amis, tu y passe plsu de la moitié de ta vie, c'est etrange c'est vrai.
Mais je n'oublie pas d'ou viennent mes racines. Toute ma famille, a part mes parents sont la bas. Quand je suis à la maison je parle russe, je lis le russe, nous somme une famille typiquement russe à la maison. Même si nous sommes aux états unis.

Q: Quelle tenus vas tu nous devoiler cette année?
Je change cette année, j'aurait un short traditionnel, crois le ou non, je n'ai jamais porté de short dans un grand chelem, c'est l'occasion de commencer. Appele ca l'obsession de la mode au masculin. C'est un look un peu tiroir. avec de sligne trés simple, c'est trés classique.

Q: Tu as toujours était trés mature pour ton age. A 21 ans, Pense tu etre adulte? Tu as parlé de la mere de Mike lors de la victoire à l'open d'australie. Pense tu que cette épreuve t'a aidé à murir?
Je pense que pas tout le monde à l'occasion d'etre mature. Mais je pense que voyager dans le monde comme nous le faisons, respecter des obligations, et tenir notre rang d'athlete profesionnel, nous pousse à etre mature. Ce travail attend de toi que tu ai une certaine maturité. Tu doit etre solide quand tu es seul. Tu dois l'être pour toi même. Même en étant avant tout une athlete, avec le temps beaucoup d'autres choses viennent et il faut savoir les gérer. Tu sas j'ai revu une interview de moi même aprés ma victoire wimbledon. Ce sont de si bon souvenir. Tu regarder derrière toi et sa te bouleverse. J'étais toute exitée à l'epoque. Tu sais, j'avais l'air de cette fille si innocente.Regarde ce que je suis devenue

Q: Es tu embarrassé de relire ce que tu as dit dans le passé ?
Non je regarde juste, Quelqu'un m'as donnée une cassette de sa.Je crois que c'était une interview avec sue becker, l'une des dernière que 'jai donnée aprés ma victoire à wimbledon. Je pouvais juste dire que j'était fatigué de donner autant d'interview. J'ai du lui donner 3 mot à chaque réponse. Elle a du se dire c'est bien la même fille qui parle . C'était assez fun.

Q:Tu nous a dis que ces dernière années n'ont pas été trés chanceuse pour toi ici, même si pourtant tu t'était preparé. Cette année tu arrive ici un peu de nulle part, sans tournois de preparation dans les jambes
Oui, c'est vrai.

Q: revenons sur ces trois dernière années, tu as dit que tu es devenu une joueuse plus accomplie sur herbe, as tu appris d'autre choses depuis?
Absolument, c'est aussi parce que je sens que mon jeu est trés performant sur cette surface. Qu'il s'adapte trés bien à l'herbe et que les victoire sont un peu plus facile ici. Il ya beaucoup de concurrent dans le tableau, beaucoup de joueuses différente. Quand tu passe d'une surface dur à l' herbe qui sont des surface completement différentes , tu dois changer completement de mentalités ca sur herbe tu apprend constamment. Malheureusement tu n'as pas beaucoup de temps pour apprendre, seulement quelque semaine, dont une d'entrainement et 2 autres de tournois. mais bon sa va, tu doit t'adapter à sa et faire avec. Tu espere que sa viendra en jouant.

Q: Quel sont tes chance de faire comme Tiger woods cette année à l'us open ?
Je ne regarde pas beaucoup, je n'ai pas l'habitude de regarder du golf en général. J'entend quelque fosi parler de tiger quand il passe à la télé, Si je le fais c'est que je tombe dessus par hasard. Je lis quelques articles, j'ai l'une de mes amis qui en est devenu fan. Elle regarde tout les sport, sa me rassasie quelque fois.
Elle me raconte avec précision tout ce qui s'est passé. Mais il doit se faire opérer du genoux n'est ce pas ? Une victoire comme sa c'st vraiment terrible.

Q: En tant qu'athlete, que pense tu de cette performance, qu'il a réaliser même blesser ?
Je pense qu'en tant que compétiteur, il a su laisser de coté sa douleurs, Il a l'air d'etre une personne qui n'as pas voulu que le monde entier sache qu'il était affaiblit. Il a fait ce qu'il pouvait en laissant de coté ce qu'il ressentait. C'est la preuve que c'est quelqu'un de fort mentalement et personnellement. Même si je n'y connait rien en golf, tout le monde peut comprendre que c'était une grande performance.

Q: Quand tu as gagné wimbledon, il y avait des photos de toi dans la presse en train de faire du shopping, vas tu faire la même chose cette année ?
Ca depend de si je gagne ou si je perd.

Q: Tu ne fais du shopping seulement quand tu perd?
Gagnante ou perdante cela ne comble pas mon envie de faire du shopping, c'est un fait.
Non, je ne sais pas, quand tu perds, pour etre honnete la seule chose que tu souhaite c'est de rentrer à la maison. c'est pourquoi tu ne me vois pas aller faire les magasin quand je perds. Mais je ne sais pas, j'adore londres, J'aime etre en europe, et en angleterre, on a l'occasion d'aller se ballader, de voir un peu à quoi ressemble la vie londonienne, c'est comme aux états unis, tu passe beaucoup de temps à te ballader partout.
En europe, particulièrement en italie, il y a beaucoup de place à decouvrir, ca doit etre pour sa que les gens sont si accueillant, tout est a proximité, il marche tout le temps, que se soit pour faire les magasins ou les centres commerciaux, c'est à coté.
Au états unis, quand tu sort de ta maison, tu sort de ton garage, il faut une voiture pour te rendre au supermarché, et aprés tu rentre chez toi, dans ton garage, sans marcher. Ici, on peut marcher dans toutes les situations, ca change c'est géniale comme experience.

Q: te sens tu plus fraiche pour entamer wimbledon comparé aux autres années?
Je pense que c'est surtout bien de garder un peu de fraicheur pour le reste de l'année; comme je l'ai dis cette année il y a les JO; je les considerent comme un grand chelem supplementaire, c'est un gros tournois pour tous. C'est comme 3 grand chelem qu'on a à la suite, non c'est presque 4 à la suite.
On a roland garros et wimbledon à enchainer, quelque semaine aprés on a les jeux olympiques, et juste aprés l'us open, Ce sera assez animé. Si on joue beaucoup de match, il n'y aura pas que le corps qui devra tenir, mais également le mentale pour etre capable de jouer et d'etre competitive. Si tu n'es pas physiquement et mentalement pret, se sera plus difficile.
On doit remanier notre calendrier tout le long de l'année afin d'etre capable de réaliser les priorités que l'on s'est donné.J'ai fait l'expérience d'avoir prise de mauvaise décision concernant mon calendrier.

Q: Beaucoup de joueuses ne s'accommodent pas forcement en fonction des évenements, alors est ce vraiment une bonne solution ? Est ce réellement un bon choix de se contenter d'entrainement avant un gros tournois comme celui la ?
Hum peut etre, c'est sur un entrainement ne vaut pas un tournois, c'est vrai que courir au filet et revenir en arrière lors des entrainement ne vaut pas des matchs de preparations. Mais pour etre honnete je ne pense pas que les match soient forcement meilleurs.

Q: Combien de joueuses pense tu etre capable de battre dans ce tournois ?
Je ne sais pas, je en suis pas du genre à m'assoir, regarder le tableau et marquer d'une croix les joueuses que je suis capable ou non de battre. Je m'occupe juste de mon bizzness.

Q:Quelles rivales seraient capables de t'empecher de remporter un second titre ici ?
Sans hésiter, les Williams, elles sont vraiment redoutables sur herbe, surtout Venus, elle a un jeu qui s'adapte trés bien ici. Les 2 serbes également, je pense qu'elles vont sortir un trés bon tennis.
Mais il y a également les joueuses qui ne partent pas favorite et n'ont rien à perdre donc peuvent sortir leurs meilleurs tennis. On verra bien .

Fortes têtes : Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova a une revanche à prendre. Sortie sèchement à Roland-Garros, l'ancienne vainqueur de Wimbledon s'est octroyée une pause de quinze jours avant de revenir à Londres. Et ce, en faisant une entorse à sa préparation prévue, repos et "people" à la fois.

L'ACTUALITE de MARIA SHARAPOVA

Cette année, entre deux tournois du Grand Chelem, Maria Sharapova fait du shopping. Et c'est une nouveauté : pour la première fois de sa carrière, la Russe s'est accordé détente et repos avant de se rendre à Wimbledon. L'ex-N.1 mondiale n'est pas passée par Birmingham, comme chaque saison avant d'aller à Londres, pour soigner une douleur à l'épaule. Une première cause mise en avant pour expliquer sa défaite en huitièmes de finale de Roland-Garros face à Dinara Safina, future finaliste des Internationaux de France. Si son "aptitude à tenir de longs échanges sur la terre battue" reste la principale raison...

Ce revers lui a quand même coûté la place de N.1 mondiale. Récupérée à la suite de la retraite de Justine Henin, ce plus haut rang féminin n'a été tenu que 22 jours de plus dans son palmarès, portant à 17 semaines (non consécutives) le temps de son règne. Cette perfomance fait d'elle la 12e ex aequo dans le classement virtuel des N.1 mondiales de l'ère Open, au même rang que Jennifer Capriati. Mais d'un autre point de vue de comparaison, la longiligne Russe se laisserait volontiers rapprocher des Belges Justine Henin et Kim Clijsters, récentes jeunes retraitées.

"Je ne pense pas que je jouerai encore quand j'aurai trente ans" , avouait-elle cette semaine dans le magazine Sport. A 21 ans, celle qui fut la mieux payée de l'année 2007 se laisse encore le temps d'étoffer son palmarès, déjà riche de 19 titres. Avant de se mettre en route pour son vingtième potentiel, son second à Wimbledon après 2004 lieu de son premier sacre majeur, Maria s'est adjugée une petite sortie à la fête organisée à Londres par Richard Branson pour les stars féminines du tennis mondial.. Avant de replonger dans sa vie parallèle et d'affronter la Française Stéphanie Foretz, 104e mondiale et issue des qualifications, pour la première fois de sa carrière.

"J'avais besoin de couper avec le circuit pour recharger mes batteries. J'avais besoin de changer de rythme, d'échapper à la routine. J'ai autant de chances de remporter Wimbledon que les autres."

LES ENJEUX ET STATISTIQUES A WIMBLEDON

. Décrocher son second titre à Wimbledon (après 2004), son quatrième titre majeur en carrière, dont son second de l'année après l'Open d'Australie, et son 4e trophée de la saison, après Melbourne, Doha et Amelia Island.

. Récupérer la place de N.1 mondiale, perdue à Roland-Garros, des mains d'Ana Ivanovic.

Pour son premier match depuis son élimination à Roland Garros, Maria Sharapova a impressionné devant Stéphanie Foretz.

Deux séances d’entraînement par jour et une furieuse envie de rattraper sa sortie de route prématurée à Roland Garros. Maria Sharapova avait annoncé la couleur avant d’entrer en lice à Wimbledon devant Stéphanie Foretz et sa préparation en amont a porté ses fruits. La Française, rapidement mise sous pression, a compris très tôt qu’elle ne pourrait pas rivaliser. En à peine une heure de jeu, elle a rendu les armes en toute logique. Breakée d’emblée sur un retour long de ligne de la Russe, Foretz courrait toujours après le score sans jamais le rattraper. Elle débloquait son compteur après une petit quart d’heure mais ses espoirs de retour étaient vains car en face, c’était du très haut niveau. Croisés ou en longs de la ligne, tous les coups de fond de court de la Sibérienne faisaient mouche.

Après 40 minutes de jeu, elle menait largement (6/1 2/1) et n’était plus rejointe même si elle avait du mal à boucler la partie à cause d’un sursaut d’orgueil de son adversaire (6/1 6/4). Au deuxième tour, elle sera opposée à sa compatriote Alla Kudryavtseva, qu’elle avait archi-dominée à Roland Garros en 2007

MARIA SHARAPOVA: You could look at it that way, yeah.

Q. Feel comfortable out there?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Yeah, it was definitely a good start, considering I didn't have a warmup tournament like I usually do. My main goal is just to go out there, get a feel for it as fast as I could and get the job done.

Q. Quite an eye catching outfit.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Thank you.

Q. I'm wondering, how much do you test drive an outfit before you approve it? Is it comfortable to play in? How much did you test it?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I do. I usually wear test it in one practice. But I usually do that like seven months before because, you know, the process takes quite a long time. I mean, I already know what I'm wearing, you know, in the fall 2009.

So, you know, yeah, it's pretty far in advance because stuff has to go to retail and all that stuff.

Q. What inspired the white tuxedo look?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I love menswear in general. You know, I love tuxedo jackets. I love things that are actually a little bit baggier and wide. I loved when that whole wide legged pant trend kind of set in, because I love that. I'm tall and I can pull those things off.

So it was fun doing it because, you know, it's hard to do things different with white. You know, there's only so much you could do. I thought, why not do shorts this year? I've never done it at a Grand Slam. You know, if there's one place to do it, it's here.

Q. What will you wear next year then, if you already know?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Oh, goodness (laughter). I still haven't finished the tournament. We've got a lot in store.

Q. With all due respect, that top takes a certain type of body to pull that off. Do you really expect that to be a big seller off the rack?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't know. A lot of the stuff I wear is actually promo only. Like the jacket's not in stores because the materials are usually brought in from Italy and France a lot of the time.

Uhm, and, I don't know actually. I hope it does. It's a beautiful top. It's so well done. To be able to perform in that, with it being so thin, so mobile, it's really cool.

Q. What did you think of Serena's raincoat and Roger's cardigan?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I didn't see it. I did see Federer's cardigan. I thought that was classic. It was beautiful.

Q. You spoke in New York with the black dress of your love of Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Talk about tuxedos.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I love how 10 of the questions are about what we're wearing. It's amazing.

Q. Did you expect anything else?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: No, I don't (laughter). Every time I get asked about it, it still amazes me.

Q. That's the point.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: As long as I'm amazed and not bored, you're doing a good job (laughter).

I don't know why. Like I said, I think it's very flattering, especially on women, to be able to pull off a look that's basically menswear. You know, from very tailored jackets to things that are a little bit oversized, as well.

I didn't wear my pants on court today, but they're very wide legged and high waisted. I love that trend. It's very classic. You can't go wrong with it.

Like I said, if there's a place to do it, it's definitely Wimbledon.

Q. Not to bore you with a tennis question.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: You always do that (smiling).

Q. In Australia you started playing well early, got off to a fast start, played great all the way through. In France, you kind of tried to work your way through. It's clay. Didn't work as well. Today you're playing well. Did you feel like coming in that's important for you to start playing well early, get a feel for the ball, maybe your game will come?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I've had different experiences in Grand Slams. You know, sometimes I feel like I start off slow and I find my rhythm throughout the tournament. I get better and better.

In France, even though I lost in the fourth round, I really feel like my level had stepped up from my three rounds. You know, like I said, I was so close to winning the match, and then you end up talking about losing the match. Very thin line between winning and losing.

Obviously it's very important to start off the tournament on a good form. I knew my opponent has already played a couple of matches. Going on to Court 1 today, I knew the court would be a little bit different as the practice courts. It's not as worn out, as well.

Just wanted to get a feel for it as fast as I could and do the right things and win the match as quickly as I could.

Q. Do you think all the attention to the fashion, is it more the players that happen to be at the top now, that you're all sort of fashion conscious and savvy, or is it more marketing by the tour? It's really relatively new that we talk so much about what the people are wearing, especially the women.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't think it's that new. It's been around for a few years.

Q. I'm saying in the last few years, though.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Okay, that's new?

I think it's great. I mean, look, tennis is not a sport where you have to wear uniforms. It's an individual sport. If you have the relationships with the brands, and I've been with Nike since I was very young and we've gained the trust in each other, you know, where we can go into a room and I can have a voice in what I like, what I don't like, my inspirations, what I feel like wearing, the colors I feel like wearing. It's a collaboration. It really is. If you can do that, why not?

I've loved fashion since I was very young. I've loved creating things. I love materials. I loved working with thread and needles, making things on my own. Having Nike behind that, to be able to produce things like what I wore on court today, is incredible.

Q. Could you sew one yourself, do you think?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Absolutely not (smiling).

Q. What do you think of Nike? They really are a little bit of a risk taker. They work with Federer, Serena. Have you been to their campus in Oregon?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Yeah, I have. A few times.

Q. What are your thoughts about their people and their approach in the market?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: What I love about them is they really think out of the box. They're not one dimensional. You know, they love experimenting. They love listening to what you feel comfortable with, what's going to work for you. They care about the athlete. That's so important, because they want you to go out and feel comfortable with what you're wearing.

I think, you know, we also have to realize that in this world tennis is sort of small compared to soccer and compared to American football in the States. So, uhm, you know, they realize, you know, maybe not as many tennis dresses are going to be sold, but if we can create things that are exciting, that are very well made...

Like I said, they go into factories in little towns in Italy and they try to find the best material, the best buttons and everything in order to create this one look.

It's great working with a company like that, that is able to you know, that is able to put things on the line and is not afraid of taking chances.

Q. On the flipside, have they ever brought in a concept where you shook your head?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Yeah, numerous times, tons of times. We had a meeting a couple months ago. Yeah, there are a lot of times where you don't agree on things, but that's the fun thing of it. It's about creating something special that both of you like.

Q. Are you going to carry the flag for Russia at the opening ceremony?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't think so, no.

Q. Speaking of Russia, you were talking about the football team on Saturday. They're through to the semifinals. How does that motivate you?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: It motivates me on a different level. I'm so proud they got through that. You know, it was kind of nerve wracking when it was tied five minutes left into the game. We really thought we had it.

You know, we're brave. We're strong. We work hard at what we do. Good things happen.

Q. Are Russians prouder now than a few years ago?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Prouder? We've always been proud. That's one thing we don't lack.

Maria Sharapova: Vous pouvez regarder cette façon, oui.

Q. se sentent à l'aise là-bas?

Maria Sharapova: Oui, il est certainement un bon début, compte tenu, je n'avais pas un tournoi comme warmup J'ai l'habitude de faire. Mon principal objectif est juste de sortir, avoir une idée de cela aussi vite que je pouvais et que le travail se fait.

Q. Tout un oeil équipement.

Maria Sharapova: Je vous remercie.

Q. Je me demande, combien de vous faire un essai de tenue avant de l'approuver? Est-il agréable à jouer? Combien avez-vous tester?

Maria Sharapova: je fais. J'ai l'habitude de porter le tester dans une pratique. Mais je ne généralement que, comme sept mois avant parce que, vous le savez, le processus prend beaucoup de temps. Je veux dire, je sais déjà ce que je porte, vous le savez, à l'automne 2009.

Donc, vous le savez, oui, c'est assez longtemps à l'avance parce que Stuff est d'aller au commerce de détail et tout ça.

Q. Quel a inspiré le look smoking blanc?

Maria Sharapova: J'adore masculine en général. Vous savez, j'adore les vestes smoking. J'aime les choses qui sont effectivement un peu baggier et de large. J'ai adoré quand toute cette grande tendance pantalons pattes genre de série, parce que j'aime ça. Je suis grande et je peux tirer de ces choses.

Ainsi, il a été fait plaisir parce que, vous le savez, il est difficile de faire des choses différentes de blanc. Vous savez, il ya seulement pour que vous pourriez faire. Je pensais, pourquoi ne pas faire short cette année? Je n'ai jamais fait à un Grand Chelem. Vous savez, s'il ya un endroit pour le faire, c'est ici.

Q. Que ferez-vous porter l'année prochaine alors, si vous connaissez déjà?

Maria Sharapova: Oh, bonté (rires). Je n'ai pas encore terminé le tournoi. Nous avons beaucoup de choses en magasin.

Q. Avec tout le respect que haut prend un certain type de corps que de tirer au large. Avez-vous vraiment que, pour être un gros vendeur sur le rack?

Maria Sharapova: Je ne sais pas. Un grand nombre des choses que je porte est en fait la promotion. À l'instar de l'enveloppe n'est pas dans les magasins parce que les matériaux sont généralement acheminés par l'Italie et la France une grande partie du temps.

Uhm, et je ne sais pas en fait. J'espère que oui. C'est un beau sommet. Il est tellement bien fait. Pour être en mesure d'accomplir dans la mesure où, en étant si faible, si mobile, il est vraiment cool.

Q. Que pensez-vous de Serena's imperméable et Roger's cardigan?

Maria Sharapova: Je n'ai pas le voir. Je n'ai voir Federer cardigan. J'ai trouvé que c'était classique. C'était beau.

Je ne sais pas pourquoi. Comme je l'ai dit, je pense que c'est très flatteur, en particulier sur les femmes, afin de pouvoir retirer un regard qui est constitué de vêtements pour hommes. Vous le savez, de vestes très adaptés à des choses qui sont un peu trop, aussi.

Je n'ai pas porter mon pantalon sur cour aujourd'hui, mais ils sont très larges pattes et de haute waisted. J'aime cette tendance. Il est très classique. Vous ne pouvez pas vous tromper avec lui.

Comme je l'ai dit, s'il ya un endroit pour le faire, c'est bien Wimbledon.

Q. Pas à vous ennuyer avec une question de tennis.

Maria Sharapova: Vous avez toujours le faire (sourire).

Q. En Australie vous commencé à jouer bien au début, pris un départ rapide, une grande joué tout le long. En France, sorte de vous essayé de travailler votre chemin. C'est l'argile. Ne fonctionne pas ainsi. Aujourd'hui, vous jouez bien. Avez-vous envie de venir dans ce important pour vous de commencer à jouer bien au début, avoir une idée de la balle, peut-être que votre jeu va venir?

Maria Sharapova: J'ai eu des expériences différentes en Grand Chelem. Vous savez, parfois je me sens comme je l'ai commencer lentement et je trouve mon rythme dans l'ensemble du tournoi. - Je obtenir de mieux en mieux.

En France, même si j'ai perdu au quatrième tour, j'ai vraiment l'impression que mon niveau a intensifié de mes trois tours. Vous savez, comme je l'ai dit, j'étais si près de gagner le match, puis finissent par vous parler de perdre le match. Très mince ligne entre les gagnants et les perdants.

De toute évidence, il est très important de débuter le tournoi sur une bonne forme. Je savais que mon adversaire a déjà joué quelques matches. Passant à l'Cour 1 aujourd'hui, je savais que le tribunal serait un peu différent que la pratique des tribunaux. Il n'est pas aussi usés, ainsi.

Voulais juste avoir une idée de cela aussi vite que je pouvais faire et les bonnes choses et de gagner le match aussi vite que je le pouvais.

Q. Pensez-vous que toute l'attention à la mode, est-il plus les joueurs qui se trouvent être au top maintenant, que vous avez toutes sortes de façon consciente et avertis, ou est-il plus de mise sur le marché par le tour? Il est vraiment relativement nouveau que nous parlons tant de ce que les gens portent, en particulier les femmes.

Je pense que c'est génial. Je veux dire, regardez, le tennis n'est pas un sport où vous devez porter l'uniforme. C'est un sport individuel. Si vous avez des relations avec les marques, et je l'ai été avec Nike depuis que je suis très jeune et nous avons gagné la confiance les uns aux autres, vous le savez, où nous pouvons aller dans une pièce et je peux avoir une voix dans ce qui Je veux, ce que je n'aime pas, mes inspirations, ce que je ressens comme le port, les couleurs J'ai envie de porter. C'est une collaboration. Il ne l'est réellement. Si vous pouvez le faire, pourquoi pas?

J'ai aimé mode depuis que j'ai été très jeune. J'ai aimé la création de choses. J'aime matériaux. J'ai adoré travailler avec fil et aiguilles, ce qui rend les choses sur mon propre. Ayant derrière Nike que, pour être en mesure de produire des choses comme ce que je portais sur cour aujourd'hui, est incroyable.

Q. Pouvez-vous coudre une vous-même, pensez-vous?

Maria Sharapova: Absolument pas (sourire).

Q. Que pensez-vous de Nike? Ils sont vraiment un peu d'un preneur de risque. Ils travaillent avec Federer, Serena. Avez-vous été à leur campus en Oregon?

Maria Sharapova: Oui, je l'ai. Un certain nombre de fois.

Q. Quelles sont vos pensées au sujet de leur peuple et leur approche sur le marché?

Maria Sharapova: Ce que j'aime à leur sujet est qu'ils pensent vraiment sorti de la boîte. Ils ne sont pas à une dimension. Vous savez, ils expérimentent l'amour. Ils aiment écouter ce que vous êtes à l'aise avec ce qui se passe à travailler pour vous. Ils se soucient de l'athlète. Que c'est très important, parce qu'ils veulent vous de sortir et se sentent à l'aise avec ce que vous portez.

Je pense que, vous le savez, nous devons également réaliser que, dans ce monde de tennis est une espèce de petit par rapport à de football et par rapport à de football américain aux États-Unis. Ainsi, uhm, vous le savez, ils réalisent, vous le savez, peut-être pas autant de robes de tennis vont être vendus, mais si nous pouvons créer des choses qui sont passionnants, qui sont très bien fait ...

Comme je l'ai dit, ils vont dans des usines en peu de villes en Italie et ils essaient de trouver les meilleurs matériaux, la meilleure boutons et tout afin de créer ce un coup d'oeil.

C'est génial de travailler avec une société comme ça, qui est capable de vous le savez, qui est capable de mettre les choses sur la ligne et n'a pas peur de prendre des chances.

Q. Sur le revers, ont-ils jamais traduits dans un concept où l'on a secoué la tête?

Maria Sharapova: Oui, de nombreuses fois, des tonnes de fois. Nous avons eu une réunion de deux mois. Oui, il existe un grand nombre de fois où vous n'êtes pas d'accord sur les choses, mais c'est le plaisir de la chose. Il s'agit de créer quelque chose de spécial que les deux vous le souhaitez.

Q. Allez-vous porter le drapeau de la Russie à la cérémonie d'ouverture?

Maria Sharapova: Je ne le pense pas, pas.

Q. En parlant de la Russie, vous parliez l'équipe de football le samedi. Ils sont jusqu'à la demi. Comment évaluez-vous ce que vous motiver?

Maria Sharapova: Elle me motive à un autre niveau. Je suis tellement fier ils se sont par cela. Vous savez, il était gentil wracking de nerf quand il était lié cinq minutes dans la partie. Nous avons vraiment pensé que nous avions.

Vous le savez, nous sommes courageux. Nous sommes forts. Nous travaillons d'arrache-pied ce que nous faisons. Les bonnes choses se produisent.

Q. Est-ce que les Russes fiers maintenant qu'il ya quelques années?

Maria Sharapova: fier? Nous avons toujours été fiers. C'est une chose que nous ne manquons pas.

Sharapova n'y était pas
Poser le pied à Wimbledon sans aucun tournoi de préparation depuis Roland Garros possède son lot de risques. Malgré deux entraînements par jour depuis une bonne semaine, Maria Sharapova l'a appris à ses dépens en s'inclinant dès le deuxième tour du Grand Chelem londonien devant la modeste Alla Kudryavtseva (6/2 6/4). En 1h24 de jeu, l'ancienne n°1 mondiale n'a jamais réussi à faire la course en tête et, dans la lignée de Roland Garros, connaît un nouveau camouflet après une fin de saison dernière en fanfare. Son service, avec 8 doubles fautes, l'a encore desservi, sa compatriote usant de toute sa force en fond de court pour lui chiper à cinq reprises ! THE MODERATOR: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Maria Sharapova. Take the first question.

Q. Have you got any explanation for what went on out there today?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I guess it wasn't my day. She just did everything better than I did. You know, she played much better. She hit the ball harder. She, uhm, you know, served and returned better.

On grass, you know those are two important elements. You know, once you don't have a lot on the ball then your opponent can take advantage of that. Obviously she had nothing to lose. She went for her shots. I was just pretty tentative.

Q. Is there any part of your game today you were happy with?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I can't be really happy about anything today.

Q. Why were you tentative?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Not sure. Very good question. A question I'll be asking myself later today.

Q. You suggested the other day that taking the time off between would be better, would be beneficial to you.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Hey, now I have more time off. Better be careful what I wish for.

Q. It seemed serving-wise you were a bit tentative. Going down the middle some. Didn't seem like backhand-wise you were feeling the stroke very well, just missing a couple inches on the cross-court.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Yeah, I think I just got to look at the tape of it to really see what went on, 'cause it just went a little too fast to analyze it right now.

But from my first thoughts when I went off court, I just thought that, you know, I wasn't playing my game. I was letting her take control of the majority of the points, yeah.

Q. With the time you took off after the French, did you see this coming at all? Did you have an inkling you might have a performance like this in you?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: You never know what you're going to have in you. I thought I played a really solid first round, felt pretty comfortable.

But, like I said, you just never know what's going to happen on a given day. You might go out there, not feel great, or your game's not quite there. Your opponent can take advantage of that, especially somebody that is playing a top player that has not much to lose. Sometimes those opponents are the most dangerous ones.

Q. Would you rate this defeat, given the fact it's at Wimbledon, as the most disappointing in recent years for you?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Losses are all disappointing, obviously. I try to sort of find a way to get back in the match, to sort of dig anywhere I could. But, you know, like I said, a loss is a loss. There's only one winner in the tournament and everybody else is disappointed, so I'm one of them.

Q. Are you fully fit?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Uh-huh.

Q. The talk about what you were wearing, the fashion, did that play a distraction for you?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: It's not the first time we've talked about what I was wearing. I've won plenty of tournaments with a lot of talk going on.

Q. Did you know much about her before? Had you seen her play? I know she played Venus tight last year in the first round.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Did she? I practiced with her a little bit at Fed Cup last year. I think I played her a couple of years ago on clay, and I won that match. You know, that was a couple of years ago and on a different surface, so...

Q. Will you reconsider your grass court preparation now for next season?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't think it really had anything to do with it. Just wasn't my day.

Q. Will you head straight home now, or will you have a few days in London?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't know. It's been 25 minutes since my match. I haven't really thought about it.

Q. Grass is one of the surfaces, if you're not playing that well, where things can go almost too quickly.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Absolutely.

Q. Especially it looked like on the court around the center stripes. The balls were just bouncing all over the place, on the lines, huh?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Yeah, I guess so. Some days they don't bounce where you want them to bounce or they don't land where you want them to land.

Q. What are your thoughts about replay at this point?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Replay?

Q. There was a key overrule there at the end, eighth game, was it, in the second set?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I don't think it had anything to do with the match.

Q. Did you think at that point maybe you were going to get a foothold and turn it around?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: What point are you talking about?

Q. Where the replay kept the game going.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: It was deuce. I think I won that game though, right?

Q. You wound up winning the game.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: That's one game I didn't lose.

Q. Pro players have so many hassles in their career, all the travel and the injuries, moments like this. What's the toughest part of being a pro tennis player? Is it losses like this or something else?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: Uhm, I mean, look, over my career, even though it's been pretty young, I still have many years ahead of me. I've had to deal with a lot of ups and a lot of downs on and off the court, and I have the experience behind me.

But I think the number one thing is not be discouraged by that, not be discouraged by losses or by negative things, things here and there.

You have to find a way to keep your head up even though it's pretty tough, because you put the effort in and you work hard and you dedicate yourself every single day to be a better player and a better professional.

Sometimes, you know, the work doesn't pay off till you never know when. I don't know when that work's gonna pay off.

I had a great off-season, came into Australia, and played really great tennis. Match in, match out, I felt great, was playing better and better. Things just worked out. Sometimes, you know, I've had experiences where I've done the same thing.

I've come into a tournament and results don't just come. It's not just for me. It's for everybody. Everybody goes through it. Everybody, you know, has those moments.

But, you know, I'm experienced enough to know that life goes on and that there are a lot worse things in life that can happen than losing a tennis match, even if it's at Wimbledon and even if it means a lot to me. There are a lot worse things.

I still have the desire, even 30 minutes after the match, to go back on court and to get better, 'cause that's the only thing that's gonna get me to hold that plate again.

Q. You seem a little bit bemused now. Underneath that are you hurting? You must be hurting.

MARIA SHARAPOVA: What do you think? I know you're not hurting for me, but...

I mean, look, a loss is a loss. It's part of my job. It's part of my job to lose and talk about it, you know.

Q. Ivanovic almost loses yesterday. You lose today. Does it say that people who think it's a cliché that there really is depth on the women's tour are wrong, that some of these younger players or even veterans can actually really play and pull off big wins on the day?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: I've always said there's depth on the tour. I'm always asked about who's the bigger threat, who's your toughest opponent, who's your rivalry.

But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. All that matters is on any given day you have to go out there, and whoever your opponent is, you have to beat them.

Absolutely, I mean, everybody can present a challenge. Everybody has a lot of strength. Everybody is hungry. This girl that beat me today, she might not win the tournament, but she beat me, and it probably made her tournament.

That's the way things go, yeah.

Grosse surprise à Wimbledon! Déjà malmenée par Nathalie Dechy au tour précédent, Ana Ivanovic a été éliminée dès le troisième tour par la Chinoise Zheng Jie.
Le massacre continue dans le tableau féminin de Wimbledon. Vingt-quatre heures après l'élimination de Maria Sharapova (no 3), c'est Ana Ivanovic (no 1) qui a été sortie par la Chinoise Jie Zheng (WTA 133) 6-1 6-4. Au deuxième tour déjà, Ivanovic avait frisé le code en sauvant deux balles de match contre Nathalie Dechy. Mais le miracle ne s'est pas reproduit pour la Serbe.:)

Ainsi, Jelena Jankovic et Svetlana Kuznetsova, qui la talonnent au classement WTA et qui sont toujours en lice à Londres, pourraient menacer son trône ces prochains jours.

«Tout est allé très vite depuis Roland-Garros (réd: tournoi qu'elle a gagné tout en devenant no1 mondial). La transition a été difficile avec le gazon», a relevé Ivanovic.«Mais je ne me cherche pas d'excuses. Elle a très bien joué, et je n'étais pas au niveau. Ce match va me servir d'expérience pour la suite de ma carrière.»
Première asiatique
Quant à Zheng, elle a signé son retour sur le devant de la scène, elle qui avait vu sa saison 2007 très largement entamée par une blessure à la cheville. Ancienne 27e mondiale, la Chinoise est devenue la première Asiatique à éliminer un no 1 mondial dans un tournoi du Grand Chelem.

«Je pensais que je pouvais l'inquiéter, voire même gagner. Mais je n'aurais jamais imaginé m'imposer si rapidement en deux sets», a reconnu Zheng, qui avait remporté Wimbledon en 2006 en double avec sa compatriote Yan Zi.

Toujours chez les dames, la défaite de Marion Bartoli (no 11) n'a constitué qu'une demi-surprise. Finaliste en 2007 mais à la rue cette année, la Française a été battue par l'Américaine Bethanie Mattek (WTA 69) 6-4 6-1. Egalement en crise, sa compatriote Amélie Mauresmo n'a tenu le choc qu'un set contre Serena Williams (no 6), s'inclinant 7-6 (7/5) 6-1.

Venus Williams a poursuivi sa promenade de santé à Wimbledon en se qualifiant aux dépens de Maria José Martinez 6-1 7-5. Jankovic a battu Wozniacki 2-6 6-4 6-2.

Avec les éliminations de Daniela Hantuchova et surtout de Maria Sharapova, le tableau de l'aînée des Williams s'est considérablement éclairci. Son adversaire au prochain tour, la Moscovite Alisa Kleybanova dispute son 3e tournoi du Grand Chelem et son premier Wimbledon. Elle est toutefois en progrès constant: hors du Top 150 en début d'année, elle est dé****ais 42e mondiale.

La première tête de série que Venus Williams est susceptible d'affronter est la Serbe Jelena Jankovic, tête de série N.2 mais qui n'a pas encore démontré qu'elle avait les qualités pour s'imposer sur gazon. L'Américaine a notamment impressionné par la puissance de sa mise en jeu, avec des services au-delà de 200 km/heure. "Si je n'étais que puissante, cela ne suffirait pas. Mais c'est vrai que cette puissance est une bénédiction pour mon jeu", a déclaré Venus Williams.

Jelena Jankovic a échappé à l'hécatombe qui sévit dans le tableau féminin de Wimbledon. Après les défaites ces dernières 48 heures d'Ivanovic (no 1) et Sharapova (no 3), la tête de série numéro deux serbe s'est extirpée de son troisième tour en battant la Danoise Caroline Wozniacki.

Jankovic, qui a dû se faire soigner à la jambe gauche pendant la partie, affrontera la Thaïlandaise Tamarine Tanasugarn en huitième de finale. Outre un premier titre en Grand Chelem, la Belgradoise jouera gros la semaine prochaine à Londres. Si elle atteint les demi-finales, elle deviendra numéro un mondial (sauf si Svetlana Kuznetsova fait mieux qu'elle). Elle serait ainsi la quatrième joueuse cette année à mener le classement technique de la WTA.

Après Ivanovic (no1) et Sharapova (no2), c'est la tête de série no3 Jelena Jankovic qui a été sortie avant les quarts à Wimbledon. Une première depuis le début de l'ère Open.

L'élimination de la Serbe Jelena Jankovic, no2 mondiale, lundi en huitièmes de finale de Wimbledon, dégage encore la route vers la finale de la quadruple championne et tenante du titre américaine, Venus Williams. L'élimination de la Serbe par la Thaïlandaise Tamarine Tanasugarn (6-3, 6-2) suit celles de sa compatiote Ana Ivanovic (no1) et de la Russe Maria Sharapova (no3), cette dernière étant dans le tableau de Venus Williams.

Jamais depuis le début de l'ère Open (1968), les quarts de finale du tournoi londonien se sont joués sans aucune des trois premières têtes de série. Facile tombeuse de la Russe Alla Kleybanova (6-3, 6-4) malgré une fin de match laborieuse qui l'a vu gâcher quatre balles de match et perdre son service, Williams affrontera au prochain tour la Thaïlandaise. En cas de victoire (plus qu'envisageable puisque la Thaïlandaise n'a jamais pris un set à l'Américaine, et ne l'a même jamais poussée au tie-break, en six affrontements), elle n'aura affronté aucune tête de série jusqu'à la demi-finale.

Une belle occasion manquée
Après une victoire pénible sur la jeune Danoise Caroline Wozniacki (2-6, 6-4, 6-2), Jankovic s'était montrée pessimiste avant d'affronter la joueuse la plus âgée encore en lice (31 ans) en raison d'une blessure à un genou gauche qui a encore nécessité des soins en bord de court lundi. De fait, incapable de se mouvoir rapidement, elle ne s'est procurée aucune balle de break avant la fin de match quand elle était menée 4 à 1 dans la seconde manche, et a eu des difficultés à servir (se faisant prendre quatre fois sa mise en jeu).

Cette défaite marque une occasion manquée pour Jankovic de prendre la première place du classement mondial, qui lui tendait les bras en cas de demie londonienne, malgré son incapacité à participer à une seule finale du Grand Chelem. De son côté Tanasugarn, qui a laissé entendre qu'elle disputait peut-être son dernier Wimbledon et s'est également fait soigner, réussit enfin à entrer en quarts après sept tentatives en 8es. Une première fêtée dans les larmes.
